What Is “Leader in Me”?

Leader in Me is a program that helps students develop the skills and habits they need to be successful in school, at home, and in life.

At our school, we believe every student has leadership potential. Being a leader does not mean being the loudest person in the room or having a special title. It means making responsible choices, treating others with respect, working hard, and helping others.

Through Leader in Me, students learn how to:

• Set goals and work toward them
• Take responsibility for their actions
• Stay organized and manage their time
• Work well with others
• Listen and communicate effectively
• Solve problems and make thoughtful decisions
• Show kindness, respect, and empathy

Leader in Me is based on the 7 Habits, which teach students simple skills they can use every day to become more confident, responsible, and successful.

The 7 Habits

1. Be Proactive – Take responsibility for your choices.
2. Begin with the End in Mind – Set goals and make a plan.
3. Put First Things First – Focus on what is most important.
4. Think Win-Win – Look for solutions that help everyone succeed.
5. Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood – Listen to others before sharing your own ideas.
6. Synergize – Work together and value different perspectives.
7. Sharpen the Saw – Take care of your body, mind, and emotions.

Leader in Me helps students discover their strengths, build confidence, and use their voice to make a positive difference in their school and community.
