Message to the Students
Dear Scholars and Families,
Welcome to the Magnet School of Innovation and Applied Learning! We are excited to have you join our school community and begin an engaging middle school journey filled with learning, leadership, innovation, and growth. Our goal is to ensure that your years at I.S. 145 are both rewarding and memorable as you prepare for success in high school, college, career, and life.
At I.S. 145, we live by our motto: "Be Lions!" Being a Lion means demonstrating courage, integrity, responsibility, leadership, and respect every day. We encourage all scholars to embrace opportunities, persevere through challenges, and make a positive impact on our school community.
As a Leader in Me school, we believe that every student has unique strengths and the ability to be a leader. Through the 7 Habits and leadership principles, scholars are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning, work collaboratively with others, set meaningful goals, and contribute to a positive and supportive school environment.
This Student Handbook has been designed to help you understand the expectations, opportunities, privileges, and responsibilities that come with being a member of the I.S. 145 community. We encourage you and your family to read it carefully, discuss its contents together, and refer to it throughout the school year. If you have questions, please reach out to your teachers, counselors, advisors, academy directors, or any member of our school staff. We are here to support you every step of the way.
Inside this handbook, you will find important information about our school programs, policies, procedures, and student expectations. By understanding and following these guidelines, participating in our many academic and extracurricular opportunities, and demonstrating leadership in your daily actions, you will be well-positioned to make the most of your middle school experience.
